Per BMW’s naming nomenclature, the S1000XR is founded upon  the S1000RR platform, shared with theS1000R roadster/naked sport.

Expected to have similar horsepower and torque curves and dynamic  characters as the S1000R, the S1000XR add more suspension travel and the ability for hard bags to what is generally among the top naked sport bike performance envelope.

The more sporty cousin to the GS, BMW is perhaps crowding the venerable ADV bike’s space, but also making it hard for consumers to land anywhere other than the blue and white checkered brand.

Projected are variety of electronic rider aids, with traction control, electronic suspension, and BMW’s pioneering anti-lock brakes. Bosch’s MSC stability control, with allows extreme throttle and brake inputs while cornering  is likely an option.

Photos of the bike on the road suggests an attractive bike in a segment with some unwieldy aesthetics.
